You Were Born, That’s Great
I have a birthday coming up, and I finally figured out that it’s not about the numbers. The numbers of your age are important when it’s time to drive, vote or go into the army. Otherwise, the number of years since your birth isn’t that important. The important thing is that you were born. Your birth was a big deal. It wasn’t just some haphazard event, it was meant to happen. Whatever has happened in your life up to this moment, know that you were meant to be. And that’s a reason to celebrate. In fact, you can celebrate it on any day you want. But birthdays are special, because that’s what started it all. The main reason why birth is a big deal is because God did it. He wanted you to be born. He planned it and made it happen at the right time. He gave you the right parents and put you in the right home. And while you may have doubts about how great your birth is, God did not hesitate in the least. God gave you the first birth, and He wants you to experience a second one. Jesus told Nicodemus, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" John 3:3. God wants you to see His kingdom and the bible shows us how to get there. Listen. You count as a human being. Not only do you count in this world, but you count in eternity. If you are living and breathing, you should celebrate. You may not look like a cover girl and you may not be able to slam-dunk or hit a three point shot. But without a doubt, you are good enough for God. Jesus wants you to be with Him for eternity. That is why you need the second birth. But your first birth is no less significant. The first one is why He went through all the trouble He went through to save us, and to make the second one possible. Don’t ever look down on yourself or allow anyone to make you feel like a nobody. You are special to God, and that’s what counts. By: Edmund Brown |
