When we need wisdom and guidance, we go to God. While others may do their best to help us, God is the only One that can give us wisdom (see James 1:5). In dealing with people, especially Christians, wisdom from God is a must. At other times, we travail in prayer to God because we need the power of God to work on our behalf. So often things happen to show how helpless we are. That is when we need God to show Himself strong. But we also need to worship and praise God. We can’t wait until things are going in our favor, we need to worship and praise Him when things are bad. God has given us every good thing that we possess, and to not worship Him is a sin. It is arrogant and ungrateful to take what He gives so freely and not bless Him in return. Praise the Lord, Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who fears (reveres and worships) the Lord; who delights greatly in His commandments Psalms 112:1 Amp. The rest of that Psalms goes on to list the blessings we all want. It says that the person that worships God will have mighty offspring. It also says that wealth and riches will be in his house. We will have light during the times of darkness, and victory over every one of our enemies. Now I believe that we would all enjoy that kind of living. Then we must stop crying and begging God to give me this and that, and commit to a lifestyle of praise and worship. If we make worship a lifestyle in our home, God will visit us with an abundance of blessings. Worship is a language of faith. It is an expression of honor demonstrating our belief that God has not only heard our prayers, but also answered them. I will bless the Lord at all times, and his praises shall continually be in my mouth Psalms 34:1. Praise will help us stay assured of what we believe. And worship holds our place in faith. God has a way of lifting us up out of our problems. He has a highway for us to travel, and it is paved with praise. By: Lindia Brown |
