Jesus Christ, Our Willing ServantI am sure that you have read in the gospels how Jesus demonstrated His humility and willingness to serve by washing the disciples feet (see John 13:5). He did this as an example for us to follow. We should be willing to lay aside our status and position, and do a little dirty work if that is what’s needed. But I believe that Jesus loves us just as much now as He did then. And even though we may not be aware of it, I believe that Jesus is still doing things for us that may be compared to washing dirty feet. He accepts our worship even though it is leftover and luke warm. He feels our deepest sorrow, and He listens to our "name it claim it" confessions. He forgives our transgressions, both open and secret, and He never condemns us or says, "I told you so". He hears the complaints that we pass off as prayers, and He answers them as best He can. Yes, He is our Master and Friend; our Lord and Savior. But He never once stopped being our Servant. He stands before the throne in the mornings and pleads on our behalf, and in the afternoon, He comes with a towel and a basin. Many nights I have bowed before Him requesting forgiveness for the impatient and bad attitude I had displayed that day. And how many times have we cried out to Him to deliver us from the same problem that His grace had covered only days earlier. Day by day and hour by hour, He gives us the comfort and peace that we need to stay in the race. How can we think of giving up, when the very Lord of the heavens justifies us? We can’t, and we won’t. "…but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many Matthew 20: 26-28. Lindia and I would like to thank you for your gifts and prayers. It is friends like you that give us the resolve to continue to reach out to the lost and hurting everywhere. We are determined to serve, and to do whatever is needed to magnify the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. May God’s grace be with you always, Edmund and Lindia Brown |
