Already Somebody Special

When I was young, I wanted to be a super-hero. I wanted to be strong and powerful so that I could save people. I figured everybody liked super-heroes (except bad guys, but that was OK because I would beat them up anyway).

As I grew older, I no longer wanted to be a super-hero. But I still admired people who could do great things. And somehow I would think how wonderful it would be if I could be like them.

Have you ever wished that you were like someone else; perhaps a movie star, a model or a professional basketball player. Maybe even someone in the bible.

The bible says that when God created people, He made them in His own image. If God made us like Himself, then we must be special. The bible says that even the hairs on our head are numbered. That’s really amazing. God knows the exact number.

Every day we can remember that we belong to God and He loves us very much. We don’t need to be like anybody else because we are already special. God doesn’t want us to be anybody else but ourselves. He loves us just the way we are.

We may not look like a model or jump like a basketball player, but we are precious in the eyes of God. Jesus died for us; that how special we are.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for making us in Your image and giving Your Son for us. You have made each one of us special. Help us to be more like Jesus in everything we say and do. In Jesus Name. Amen.
