Reaching Out

I constantly pray and ask God for more resources and opportunities to do greater things for His glory. Since our ministry started, we’ve had a few people come and go, but the foundation has always been and continues to be my wife, mother and sister. I’, always asking God to send us more people so that we can do more, yet He uses what we have to do beyond our wildest imagination.

One day I was reminded of the story of Gideon. The Medianites constantly threatened to destroy the Israelites, and they were big and mean enough to do it. Many of the Israelites felt like God has forgotten them.

But God told Gideon not to worry because "...I will be with you. And you will destroy the Medianites as if you were fighting against one man" see Judges 6:16. I can imagine Gideon swallowed hard as he put together a measly 32,000 men.

God told Gideon his army was too big and might take the credit when God was the One assuring the victory. So He told Gideon to send all the fearful soldiers home. So 22,000 left leaving only 10,000 left to fight. But when God finished downsizing that army, there were only 300 left.

When Gideon attacked the enemy that night, they didn’t even have a sword. God brought such a confusion in the camp of the Medianites, they started killing each other. In fact, whatever they saw caused them to almost wipe each other out. All Israel had to do was sit back and watch.

We may not have a lot of workers in our ministry, but through faith and confidence in God, we are doing mighty things. The God that gave Gideon the victory is working in our ministry reaching out to the lost and hurting.
