You Are Not A FailureOne of the good things about watching television is that you know in advance that most of the time, the show will have a happy ending. Really complicated life struggles, like love and romance, always seem to end happily. And it only takes thirty to sixty minutes to pull it off. Many times we tend to think that life is like television, but it is not. In real life there aren’t many heroes, and pain does not resolve easily. You have to work hard to make the best of life, and when you fail, you have to get up and keep at it. Just because you fail at something doesn’t mean that you are a failure. God loves us in spite of how terrible we messed up. The important thing is to learn from our mistakes and move on with life. Perhaps you are embarrassed over a failed relationship. Maybe you are not fortunate enough to dress in style or drive your own automobile. Maybe you’ve been betrayed or rejected by a friend. That’s life. It’s hard and it hurts. But you are not a failure; not unless you quit. You are not a failure unless you just give up and wallow in self-pity. You are not a failure unless you are too proud to confess your mistake to God and men and accept forgiveness. You are not a failure unless you refuse to accept responsibility and to be accountable. God wants the best for you. He wants you to be stable even when your world is falling in. Are you willing to trust Jesus Christ with your life? He is there to help you make it; not in thirty minutes, but in as long as it takes. By: Edmund Brown |
