Do
Your Part
Many youth today struggle with low self
esteem. They depend totally on what others think about them. They look to their
peers to tell them they are important, and they will do just about anything to
fit in.
The problem is that what pleases people today
may not work tomorrow. It's like being on a roller coaster ride, up today, down
tomorrow, quick fast turns and dangerous dives. No matter how high you climb,
it's just a matter of time before you come back down. That's no way to live.
While you are performing trying to earn the approval of everybody else, you
dislike yourself more and more.
The best way to improve our self-image is to
study how much God loves us. You see, God created us in His own image, and He
wants us to feel good about it. But in order for things to change in our life,
God has to do His part and we have to do our part.
God has done His part. He hasn't left anything
undone. He created us and put in us the gifts and talents that He wanted us to
have. He loves us eternally and unconditionally, and He accepts us just as we
are. Through Jesus Christ we have the opportunity to receive salvation, and to
become a child of God. God wants to be our sponsor in spreading His love to
others, and He is willing to train us in how to change the lives of others.
Simply put: "You are not a nobody."
So the only thing left is for you to do your
part by receiving what God has done for you. Allow the love of God to work in
your life. Receive His forgiveness and salvation, and get rid of sin in your
life. Listen to the voice of God's Spirit in your heart instead of the voice of
your peers.
Jesus proved how important you were to Him by
dying for you. He did His part. The rest is up to you.
