Galatians
5: 22-23
Spiritual fruit is something that is seen in the life of a
believer. Not only is it evidence that the Holy Ghost is alive and active in the
believer's life, it also proves that the believer is yielding to the Spirit's
guidance in vital areas of his life. No matter how spiritual we are, we cannot
produce fruit on our own. It is a supernatural work of the hand of the Holy
Ghost.
The progression of maturity does not happen overnight, but it
can be observed over the long haul of life. It does not come quickly and it
cannot be easily overpowered. Nothing can make a more bold, exciting and
purposeful statement for God than a child of God whose life is yielding fruits
of righteousness.
Many individuals experience conversion, yet never go on to
establish their identity in Christ. This is unfortunate. The life of a believer
who does not consistently yield to the Holy Ghost is a struggle at best. The
daily battle to control self-directed tendencies without the help of the Spirit
of God is a sure way to fail.
Is the Spirit producing fruit in your life? How have you
matured since this time last month… last year… 5 years ago? Where exactly do
you need the Spirit to exercise more control?
Why not think about it, and make a decision of your will to
turn that part of your life over to the Holy Spirit. He alone can redeem and
sanctify you, and make you more than you ever-dreamed possible.
