Soft SpotsDid you know that kids have "soft spots?" That means a part of them that hurt the most. When people, even your parents, criticize a soft spot, it makes you feel dumb and worthless. Let me tell you what these areas are. The first is how you look (physical attractiveness), and the second is how well you do in school (intellect). Has a grown up person ever called you "dumb" or
"stupid"? It makes you feel bad because that's a soft spot in you. I
have heard teachers call their students dumb and stupid. This is disrespectful
and should never happen. If this ever happens to you, be sure to tell that
person in a nice way how it makes you feel. It is not good for kids to feel bad about themselves. This is called "low self esteem". Most kids who do bad things like fight, curse and steal have low self-esteem. When they start feeling better about themselves, they become nicer. It is hard to be nice when you feel bad about yourself. The biggest problem is that all around us, on the television and newspaper, people are saying that looking good and being smart makes a person important. So if you don't have Jordan shoes or Tommy shirts, something is wrong with you. This is not true. No matter what a child has or does not have, he can still feel good about himself. Clothing does not make a person good, but being good on the inside. Start today being good to everyone, and do not let anyone make you feel worthless. Jesus proved how valuable you were by dying for you. So give your life to Him right now. By: Edmund Brown |
