Being FaithfulWhen Lindia and I got married, we stood before a crowd of people and publicly stated our vows to love each other. We made the commitment to be faithful. Since that time, our marriage has been through both good and bad times. Yet, through it all, we have both kept the promises and honored our commitment to be faithful. How faithful are you when you make a promise or a vow? Do you
keep it? Can your parents trust you to do what is right? Are you dependable? Do
you go where you say you're going and come back when you say you're going to
come back? Are you faithful in handling your responsibility around your home. If you have given your life to Jesus, you have been entrusted with great riches in Christ. But in order for them to be real in your life, you must prove to be faithful. Being true to Christ is the most important commitment you can ever make. Jesus said that if a person wanted to build a tower, the first thing he needed to do was plan everything he needed (See Luke 14:28). Then he would need to make sure he had enough to cover all the cost. That makes sense, because it is dumb to start something and not be able to finish. It is easy to say you will follow Christ, but when the time comes to hold true to your commitment, will you do it or not? God wants you to be known by your commitment. Mark 8:34 says, "If anyone will come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross and follow me." Will you accept the challenge today to stand up with the GSP youth and be a faithful person? If you have never given your life to Jesus Christ, do so right now. If you are a Christian but have not been faithful, make a new commitment to honor Christ in your everyday life. Then you will see what it means to be faithful. By: Edmund Brown |
