How Often Do You Pray? The bible says that men ought to always pray and not to faint Luke 18:1. According to that verse, we are to pray all the time. You may be wondering how can someone possibly pray "all the time". We have to work, study, care for our family and a lot of other to do as well. When we think of praying, we picture ourselves on our knees in the universal praying position. But praying to God doesn’t mean we need to be kneeling all the time. We can pray while driving our car, taking a shower or washing the dishes. Actually, we can pray anytime. God’s ears are always open and He hears every word we speak. When Jesus was here on earth, He often went away from everybody else to talk to the Father. It was important to Jesus to be alone without distractions. But He did not pray this way every time He prayed. Jesus found strength in prayer, and so can we. We must talk to God on a daily basis. This is how we get the answers we seek. This is how we keep our peace in the midst our struggles. Prayer helps us deal with every day life. God leads us through prayer. He tells us what to do in tough times when we take time out to pray. We should ask God to help us at the start of each day. Throughout the day, we should offer Him a prayer of worship and thanksgiving, or we can simply tell Him how much we love Him. God is waiting to hear from us; He wants to communicate with us. If you do not know how to pray, don’t feel bad. The disciples of Jesus didn’t know either. So they asked Jesus to teach them (See Luke 11:1). Jesus will teach you too. Prayer is just a way of talking to and getting to know the Father. It is our way of fellowshipping with Him, praising Him, loving and obeying Him. We can all agree that we need to pray to God as much as possible; not just ten minutes in the morning and fifteen minutes at night. Give Him more time than that. Pray always. You will feel so much better if you do. By: Lindia Brown |
