Distractions

From birth, little girls are taught to play with dolls and to assume their role as homemaker. They cook, clean, and take care of the children. Boys, on the other hand, assume their position outside the home. They are concerned with cars, clothes, sports, and the stock market. Men and women, though God created both, are vastly different. Women are concerned with detail, while men settle for as little detail as possible.

While many women are finding success outside of the home, there are still those who struggle with being fulfilled without a man’s presence. They struggle with self-esteem and dependency. Many settle for unfulfilled relationships as long as there is a man present. I have received countless prayer requests from women in the area of relationship. From the beginning God instructed man that woman was created for companionship, not servitude. Dependency on each other has become the great distraction of the day. Instead of trusting God to supply all of our needs, we are depending on each other. Much of the disappointments that relationships encounter come from this intense need to rely on another individual.

People, the scripture declares that our god is jealous and will not tolerate anyone placing another before him. He longs to satisfy and to allow us to enter into his rest. He, alone, is our source. By him, and in him, all things exist. Like a father longs to protect his children from harm, God is concerned about every issue that concerns us. The psalmist declares that "we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture." He is the great shepherd who watches over and cares for us. God wants us to know what it is like to truly know Him. He invites us to " come boldly to his throne to receive grace to help us in a time when we so desperately need it."

The scripture instructs us to seek the Lord, not each other, while he may be found. If we are to be successful, whether man or woman, we MUST seek God and turn to Him for answers. Allow the Lord to lead and guide you in the way of truth. Don’t allow another individual to distract you from receiving from God. Follow his Word and you will emerge more than a conqueror.
