The
Real You
When you look in the mirror, what do you see looking back at
you? Do you see a sad, miserable, unhappy failure? Do you see someone whose only
hope for the future is depression and agony? Is that the "real" you,
or is it what you think others see?
Tell me, what are you thinking about all day long? So often
we think the worse about ourselves, and many times that is why we feel so down.
We feel bad about ourselves; we expect bad things to happen to us, and when it
does we say, "I knew it".
We never stop to realize that we are simply fulfilling the
Word of God. For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…Proverbs 23:7.
Therefore, whatever we think about all day long is what we will eventually
become. We have as much opportunity to develop a positive outlook as we do to
look down on ourselves and everyone else. It depends on where we place our
thoughts.
God’s Word tells us the truth about ourselves. We must
focus on the scriptures in order to see who we really are. It does not matter
how we feel, what we think or what others say. The important thing is what God
says.
The bible tells us to be transformed by the renewing of
our minds see Romans 12:2. In other words, we must start believing that what
God says about us is greater than what we’ve been saying. If the bible says
that we are healed by His stripes, then we are healed. If the bible says that He
would supply our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus, then
our needs will be met. So next time we look in the mirror, we can smile because
we see a person living by the grace of God and walking in healing and
prosperity.
You see, we have to see ourselves the way that God sees us
because that’s who we really are. God sees us blessed in the city and in the
field. He sees us rich because Jesus became poor that we might become rich in
every area of our life. We have been totally redeemed from every curse of sin.
If we keep our minds on God Word, we can live in perfect peace.
I don’t know where you are right now. You may be under the most undesirable
of circumstances, but it’s never too late to change. You may have a good
reason to feel sad, but as you see yourself the way God sees you, things will
become a whole lot clearer. Then you will begin to understand that God sees the
"real" you.
