Life's Messages

I recently celebrated another birthday. My daughters made humorous comments suggesting that I was ancient, but I know it was all in fun.
Though I am not yet what one would consider a senior citizen, I have been around long enough to look back and reflect on my life. I can remember mistakes in my pass that range from embarrassing to life threatening, yet the sure Hand of God watched over me. And now, as I am getting older, I can easily see the value of saying something with your life.
Paul said that his life was an epistle that could be read by all. In other words, he considered his lifestyle to be a message writing process, something that everyone could read and witness. Each day is a chapter we pass on to everyone we meet including our families, friends and strangers.
King David`s life was a message. It was not a faultless message, or one without personal failures. He did not write a statement proclaiming success and greatness, yet leaving off his acts of lust and selfishness. He made some wrong decisions which hurt himself, his family, and the nation of Israel, yet he never allowed it to destroy his love for his God. In Acts 13:22, God Himself says, "I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will."
Even though David`s life was filled with heartache and tragedy, his personal failures did not stop the message of his life. During the times of his worse suffering and failures, David humbled himself and received God`s forgiveness. Sin could have easily robbed him of his love and devotion to God, but David would not. In Psalms 51, David said that he had sinned against God only, and asked God to create in him a clean heart, renew a right spirit within him, and restore to him the joy of salvation.

I want my life to have a message. I want to look back and be able to see where God has given me victory in every circumstance that confronted me. My desire is to focus on Him, and what He is doing in my life. In fact, if we cannot look back and see God working, then the message of our lives will be worthless.
Whether young or old, your life message is being recorded. If your love for God and your obedience to His will is the guiding force in your life, then you will be able to look back with joy. But when compromise prevents a sincere commitment to God`s Word, the outcomes are anything but peaceful.
Make a commitment to obey God at all cost. He loves you unconditionally. As you face the many trials and triumphs that life sends your way, your message will always be one that glorifies God.
