Keep It Simple

I’ve tried so hard to understand why we sometimes make a big deal out of every little thing that comes our way. If we can just learn to keep things simple, we will find a lot more joy in life. We don’t have to be so intense.

I don’t believe that God wants our lives to be so complicated that we can hardly sleep at night. When we get in our beds at night, we need to be able to rest our weary bodies. If we toss and turn all night, pretty soon we will wear out. We never realize how valuable a good night sleep is until we’ve done without it. We need sleep.

God wants our lives to be simple. For example, if you are planning a cookout, keep it simple. Make plans in such a way that you can manage things. When you have to depend on a lot of people to fulfill your agenda, there are so many things that can go wrong. You will do well to control your own schedule, let alone that of twenty others.

If you are giving your two year old a birthday party, keep it simple. You don’t have to have a pony or a clown. They won’t remember it anyway. I don’t mean to discourage anyone from having elaborate events. I believe we should put our hearts into everything we do. But if our events cause us frustration and stress, we may be going overboard.

Satan doesn’t like things easy and manageable. He wants to keep us in as much confusion as possible. Whether we are planning a wedding or a church retreat, Satan wants to create chaos and disorder, and make us act ugly. He knows that simplicity will bring us peace, and he doesn’t want peace in our lives.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

(Matthew 11:28-30). Ask the Lord to show you the simplest way of dealing with any given situation. The Holy Spirit will guide you in all things.

God loves us so much and desires us to relax. He will show us how to keep it simple.
