Increasing Your Faith
Would you like to increase your faith? Most Christians would say yes. You need to understand that God did not give some people more faith than He gave others. Every believer has been given a measure – the same measure of the God kind of faith. For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God Ephesians 2:8. You see, God has given us faith; we already have faith. It’s not something that God needs to do over and over again. He has given us exactly what we need. But our faith grows according to what we do with it. Some people just wrap their faith up in a napkin, so to speak, and hid it. They never use it at all. It’s useless to them because they aren’t exercising it. In order to increase your faith, you must feed on the Word of God and put it to practice. As you put the Word to work in your life, you are exercising your faith. If you continue, faith will become stronger and stronger. We know that if we eat food regularly, it will build us up physically. Yet if we eat right and do not exercise, we will get flabby and out of shape. It takes both eating and exercising to experience overall health. It’s the same way with God’s Word. You need to feed your faith on God’s Word as well as exercise your faith. You need to do this everyday so that it will grow. Remember, it is all up to you what you do with the measure of faith that God has given to you. He doesn’t need to give you more; you need to utilize what He has given you. For example, you can do the things to cause your faith to grow while another person does absolutely nothing with his faith. When the storms of life come (they always do), you will have the faith to stand while the other person falls. The problem is not with God. But your faith was strong while the person who did nothing had weak faith. I want to encourage you to feed your faith everyday. Start exercising your faith right where you are now. This won’t happen overnight. You will have to be consistent over a long period of time. This has to be your lifestyle. When I first started going to the gym, I did not see results right away. It took a while. But I kept on going three times a week. At first all my muscles were sore, and I was tempted to quit. Sometimes I didn’t feel like going, but I kept at it. Now, after over five years, I see the results. I can now instruct and encourage others in the principles of fitness. It did not take very long for me to get toned. It only took six weeks. But to stay toned I have to keep at it. If you want your faith to keep increasing, keep at it. Stay in the Word of God. Trust the Word in whatever situation you are facing. Then your faith will grow to where you can move the mountains in your life. By: Lindia Brown |
