Hindrances
to Faith
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence
of things not seen. Even though the actual solution to your problem may exist in
the realm of impossibility, when you have faith, the very essence is in your
possession.
According to Jesus, the kingdom of heaven operates like a
seed. Since faith is a part of that kingdom, it operates that way also. If it
weren't for satanic influence, one seed would produce forever.
Every believer has been given the measure of faith. There's
no such thing as a born again believer without any faith. Faith is a seed to be
planted (or dug up) by words. There is producing power in words.
When the sower sows the word, that seed is expected to grow.
The seed is the servant of the planter. The planter should be seeking a harvest.
After all, that is how he is fed.
Faith must be fed God's Word. We walk by faith, not by sight.
By faith we speak to the mountain, and expect that mountain to move out of our
way. But we must continually speak the Word because that's the only thing
powerful enough to move mountains.
There are many hindrances in this life that will cause us to
not be able to see through the eyes of faith. According to 2 Corinthians 5:17,
any man in Christ Jesus is a New Creature. When we fail to grow in our
understanding of all that we are because we have been recreated, then we cannot
see very far through the eyes of faith. It says that the old things pass away
and new things come into existence. Faith focuses on the new things, and these
new things become the basis of our confessions.
Lack of understanding of our place in Him can also dim our
faith vision. The words "In Christ", "In Him", and "In
Whom" occur 134 times in the New Testament. The scriptures containing these
phrases tell us who we are and what we have. By confessing these scriptures, we
are nurturing the faith seeds in our heart.
Many people do not understand what it means to be righteous.
This has held more people in bondage than anything else I know. You need to know
what righteousness is, and what it will give. Righteousness is the ability to go
before the presence of God without a sin consciousness. James 5:16 says…the
effectual fervent prayers of a righteous man availeth much.
Such things as failing to act on the Word or giving up on our
confession also hinder us. We need to hold on to our confession of faith without
wavering. Don't be moved by what you see, but by what you believe. If God said
it, He will surely bring it to pass.
