Finding
Out Who You Are
It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are
living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had
his eyes on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall
purpose he is working out in everything and everyone. Ephesians 1:11-12
(Message)
It is in Christ Jesus that we find out who we are. That is
why most people have no idea who they are or what they want to be. Some youth
dream of being a famous entertainer because they think it's cool having crowds
screaming at them. But what is your real motivation for wanting to be a star
athlete, or a doctor, or a nurse, or a bus driver…The point is that there are
many things that influence what you want to be. But to determine why you want to
be what you want to be will determine who you are. (You may want to read that
again).
Many youth succeed in very worthy goals only to discover that
their life is vain and pointless. The reason they feel that way is because they
have never taken the time to find out who they really are. They know what they
are, but they don't know who they are. Who comes first because only then will
you realize what you are living for.
Not knowing who you are or what you are living for can cause
great frustration. Many spend live their whole life never knowing who they are.
They may accomplish many worthwhile goals, but they never feel like they've
accomplished anything. I feel like Christians should always live in such a way
that their lives are an example to others. In other words, they should know who
they are. That means getting it together, becoming a productive adult and
making a difference.
As you read this, perhaps your thoughts are a little cloudy.
Let me assure you of one thing, "God does have a plan for your life."
Your future is really important, but not as important as living for Christ right
now. If you concentrate on living for Him everyday, the future will take care of
itself.
So instead of worrying about what you're going to be, ask
Christ to reveal to you who you really are. Then you will discover what your
life's true values are.
