True
Happiness
The bible says that "the kingdom of God is not a
matter of getting the food and drink one likes, but instead it is
righteousness (that state which makes a person acceptable to God) and heart
peace and joy in the Holy Ghost Romans 14:17 (AMP).
We all want to be happy. Somehow we have picked up the
message that getting the things we want is somehow tied to our happiness. So
when we cannot get what we want, it is distressing to us. We can hardly handle
someone telling us "no".
According to this scripture, the happiness we seek cannot be
found in the things that we consider so vital to our existence. We want
friendships, relationships and ongoing social activities, so we buy the latest
fashions and strive to be popular in the sight of our peers. But even if we
obtain all the things we seek, we still won’t have what life is all about.
God’s kingdom is not anything worldly. It is not dependent
on anything you can but in the store, or nothing that you can eat or drink.
There is nothing man-made that has the ability to give you what God considers
important. You see, God deals with the kinds of person you are on the inside.
That is more important to Him than how you look on the outside. That means you
should strive to be what God wants you to be more so than your peers.
So many youth today are frustrated with life because they
fail to find peace in the things they are seeking. That is because those things
aren’t designed to give them peace. As long as you seek happiness and peace in
the wrong places, you will always grow weary and discourages.
Jesus offers you more than the world ever can. He said that
if you seek the kingdom of heaven and His righteousness, that everything else
would fall in place. That means the secret to your boyfriend, girlfriend, social
life and friends are all tied to how successful you are in seeking God’s
kingdom. Once you discover the important things that God has for you, you will
see that the things we consider vital really aren’t that important. Nothing
can give you joy like living a righteous life.
Jesus wants to fix you on the inside. He is ready if you are
willing. Without righteousness, peace and joy in your life, you really don’t
have anything at all. Make up your mind today that you are going to live for
Jesus, and make His kingdom first choice.
