This Generation of Survivors
You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way; for every abomination to the Lord which He hates, they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods Deuteronomy 12:31 There is nothing more unnatural in the world than for a mother to murder her own child. The worshippers of Baal and Molech, who offered the chosen of their children to idols, were not primitives. They were model citizens of a civilization that was one of the most advanced of its time. To understand the utter horror of what happened, imagine a society of executives who met at Sunday worship service to pray and play music loud enough to drown out the screams of their own flesh and blood children as they are burned to death on an altar. The terror of the moment in America is the once unthinkable spectacle of children killing children. In small towns across the nation, children are becoming mass murderers, unnatural born killers. We say that we are shocked, but why should we be? Children die everyday, the victims of terrorism, gang warfare, and malnutrition. And the mother of all horrors is abortions. Yet we fail to notice that we have become accustomed to the holocaust. Baal and Molech never went away. Only their names have changed. There are now called "pro choice" and "political correctness". And this worship goes on in a world that sacrifices its future inheritance to pleasure, prosperity and power. The "Valley of Hinnon", the original site of the child sacrifices, eventually became known as Gehenna. "Gehenna" is one of the bible names for "hell". The scene has changed a little. We have abortion clinics all over the place. It is proof that life is not sacred anymore. We think nothing of killing, stealing or mistreating one another to achieve power, money and status. Each individual is so special that God made no two alike. Even the hairs of our heads are mysteriously numbered. He asked us to love Him with all our heart. He has already provided for us, and made us blessed in the city and fields. He made us blessed when we go out and come in. The blessings of God will actually run us down and overtake us. He has made us the head and not the tail, and placed us above and not beneath. He has seated us together with Christ in heavenly places. The children of this generation are blessed, and we need to see them as more than conquerors. They are survivors. They have stood through divorce, death and all kinds of devastation. But through the grace of God, we will all become what God already said we would be. By: Naomi Brown |
