Showing Love Everyday
How often do you show love to others? Do you show love everyday? Is it an unconscious part of your personality or do you just say I love you because you hear every one else say it? Many people feel like if they say it, that’s enough. Many people show a little love during Christmas season, and when its over, they are back into their prejudice and back biting lifestyle. If we plan to be like Jesus Christ, we have to show love all day everyday. Well, lets look at the life of Jesus. Did He show people love
everyday? Yes, He did. No matter what the traditions said or what the prevailing
religious view was, Jesus showed love to everyone. He was willing to embrace a
sinner, touch a leper, forgive a prostitute or publicly associate with women to
show love. Jesus placed love above the law when it came to healing people on the
Sabbath. Loves heals all day everyday; it never takes a rest break. Jesus showed us how He wants us to love. He didn’t just say words, He showed us how to love and forgive by doing it himself. Even today, He shows us His love all day everyday. He gave His life for our sin, healed our body with His stripes and gave us insight on how to defeat the devil. His Word encourages us to keep reaching for higher places so that we can love more perfectly. We are not there yet, but hopefully, we are all making good progress. For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever beloved in him should not perish, but have ever lasting life St. John 3:15. We need to give love away instead of always looking for something for ourselves. Love doesn’t seek it’s own, but is more concerned about others. There are many ways that we can show love to others. We can pray for them. It doesn’t have to be an open verbal prayer, but a sincere secret prayers in our closet. We can say a kind word or listen to the matters of others. How about a visit to someone who is sick? We can just give someone a little smile. What does that cost? I like it when my husband does little special things for me. Sometimes he sends me a love note by e-mail with a beautiful love song attached to it. I save them and listen to them over and over. It doesn’t take a great expensive gift to show love. It is mostly the non material things that really count. I like it when he calls and says I am taking you out tonight, just think about where you want to go. Those are little ways that he shows his love for me. God love us not matter what. We are to be the same way with people everyday. I am reminded of a song that I sing off the Avalon Christmas album. It says don’t save all your love for Christmas day, but give a little love everyday. Holidays come and go, but the need for love is always there. Let’s make a commitment to show people love all day everyday. The next time you tell someone that you love them, mean it from your heart. By: Lindia Brown |
