How God Wants Us To Live
How do you live for God? I understand that you have been born
again and that you have invited Jesus to be the Lord of your life, but how does
that experience impact your everyday life.
Are you content to make an appearance in church on Sunday and
perhaps sing in the choir? Or maybe your schedule book is so full of religious
commitments that you hardly have time for anything else.
I admire individuals that are willing to make sacrifices for
their faith, but our business does not really impress God. You see, God is more
concerned about the quality time that we spend with Him. It would be better to
spend one hour in sincere prayer and praise than to run all over town for a week
and never talk to God.
Living for God requires a conscious effort on our part.
Ephesians 4: 23-24 says, "And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And
that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true
holiness." God doesn’t want us to rationalize with one another, but
to speak the truth in love. If we should be angry, we sin not; neither let the
sun go down on our wrath. No matter how we feel in our flesh, we should yield to
the authority of God’s Word.
It is so vital that we never give the devil a place in our
lives through foolish actions, like gossiping and backbiting. The Word instructs
us to let no corrupt communication proceed out of our mouth, but only that,
which is good for edification. If we live for God, we will always speak words
that minister grace to the hearers.
We must also be kind to one another, and not disrespect and
be cold and callous in our attitude. The bible instructs us to be tender
hearted, forgiving one another even as God on Christ’s behalf has forgiven us
(see Ephesians 4:32).
I want to encourage us to live in such a way that God is
pleased with our actions and attitudes. That way God will get the glory for the
beautiful work He is doing in each one of us.
