Sometimes during the teen years, it seems like nobody understands what you are going through. This is especially true with parents who only seem to focus on the negative. You live in loneliness and isolation, and it appears that your future will be an unhappy one. You don’t have to feel like no one understands you. Every adult around you was at one time a teenage, and they went through the same problems that you are now facing. Even your out-of-date parents, though they may have a difficult time communicating it to you, probably have a very good idea what you are feeling. But no matter how others may misunderstand you, God never does. In fact, He understands you perfectly. He perfectly understands your tears and secret fears. He knows what you mean when you cannot express it. Not only does God understand you perfectly, He loves you the same way. We know this because He sent His only Son to die for your sins. "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him" 1 John 4:9. Perhaps God’s perfect love and understanding of you has never occurred to you. Now is a great time for you to consider that. You see, you are at a stage in life where you are making important decisions. These decisions may have a serious impact on the rest of your life. Without God to lead and guide you, you are practically on your own. It would be so much better to live for God and follow His plan for your life. The next time you feel misunderstood and alone, think about the One who understands you perfectly. He is there to help you through these tough teen times. By: Edmund Brown |
