First Choice
You won’t find their music on a big time music label, at least not yet. Many devoted listeners of gospel music have probably never heard of them. But that isn’t stopping these three young ladies from making their mark in the music industry. First Choice is a group of three young girls from three different backgrounds who found a common interest in praising God. Driven by their passion for God and their desire to sing, they have formed a unified yet diverse group. Group members consist of Brittani Coleman (14), Malissa Asberry (14) and Jacquia Lindsay (15). Brittani’s mission is to write and perform music that will inspire young people to stand up and celebrate their life in Christ, and to share His love with the worlds around them. Malissa finds excitement in combining her faith in Christ and her love of music in order to inspire people to move closer to Christ. Jacquia boldly proclaims that Christ "is my hope, my vision, my reason to live. He has and is completely changing me." These young girls, through their faith and love for Christ and music, have come together to minister to all audiences through song. With their own blend of Pop, R&B and Hip Hop, First Choice breaks down walls, touches hearts, and leaves teens wanting to know more about Jesus Christ. Their infectious debut single, "All Because Of You", boasts a polished signature sound prophetically termed "Urban Pop". The group’s message is that each person is a masterpiece created by God, and God puts His signature on every individual. First, He gives us all our own unique set of abilities, gifts and talents that He utilizes in whatever His purpose is for us. Secondly, God is at work in our lives using our experiences to mold us into the person He needs us to be. Thirdly, God gifts are given to us to equip us to minister to the Body of Christ. Indeed, teens need to know that they are special. In a world of mixed messages, where teens are victims of commodity, it is so refreshing to see young girls using their platform to tell their peers that they are far more than another face in the crowd. |
