Making ExcusesAnd another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house Luke 9:61. What do you do when your mother tells you to clean your room or wash the dishes? Do you respond with excitement or do you make excuses. Most of us do not like chores, so we make excuses. But what would happen if no one ever washed the dishes, cleaned their rooms, emptied the garbage or cut the grass? We would have to eat off dirty dishes, sleep in a filthy room, and smell stinky garbage. And the grass would grow so high, we wouldn’t be able to get into our homes. That would not be good at all. Jesus calls on people to do things for Him all the time. But some of them make excuses. Most of the excuses keep us from doing what God wants us to do. When it came down to suffering and dying on the Cross for us, Jesus didn’t make excuses. He did all that God wanted Him to do, even thou it meant giving up His life. He loved us just that much. |
