Keep Yourself Encouraged
Sometimes in life it seems like we are cruising along just fine, and then something happens to throw us for a loop. You sit down and wonder what is going on. You think to yourself, "Why is this happening to me and my family?" You may even be tempted to question your salvation assuming that God must not be pleased with something that you are doing. The answer to all of these questions could very well be that we truly are the children of God. In other words, the devil is working overtime to do all that he possibly can to distract you from the Word of God. That’s because you’ve been growing way too much. You’ve become way too radical in believing God’s Word, and it’s showing up in your personal life. Therefore the devil attempts to make every trial a big deal. He wants to discourage you and make you sad. He knows that if he can get you to take your eyes off the promises of God, you will soon give up. It’s up to you to keep yourself encouraged in the Word of God. I’m reminded of a time in the bible when David lost everything he had. He came home one day and his enemies had stolen his family, his possessions and destroyed everything else. His men got mad and blamed David. So he encouraged himself in the Lord and everything was returned to him. At times it may seem impossible to do, but you must keep yourself encouraged in the Word. Don’t depend on anybody else; keep yourself encouraged. Think about the goodness of God and praise Him for it. Then God can turn your situations around. By: Lindia Brown |
