Encourage Yourself In Hard Times

There are times in life when it seems like everything is going wrong. I’ve experienced those times, and so have you.

Sometimes that means you have to take steps of faith even when you are hurting, grieving, or still staggering from the attack of the enemy.

David and his men were out patrolling one day when their city was attacked. Their homes were burned, their possessions stolen, and their wives and children kidnapped. David and his men were devastated.

But instead of just sitting around fussing and fighting with each other, the bible says that David encouraged himself in the Lord his God (see 1 Samuel 30:6). Something stood up on the inside of David assuring him that God was with him. So he took his men and recovered everything that was stolen from him.

I want to encourage you to stop sitting around waiting for things in your life to change. God is waiting on you to get up on the inside. When you do your part, God will begin to work supernaturally in your life.

When you face adversity, don’t be a crybaby or a complainer. Don’t wallow in self-pity. Instead, have a victorious attitude. Your attitude should be, "I’m coming out of this thing. I may be sick now, but this sickness cannot stay because by His strips I am healed". "My children may not be acting right, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

You must show the enemy that you are more determined than he is.

God wants us to be winners, not whiners. No matter how many times you get knocked down, keep getting right back up. And when you do everything that you can do, God will step in and do what you cannot do.
