What or who can define Gospel music? Is it a certain sound that we hear? Does that sound belong to a certain group? Is it Blues, or R&B, or Easy Listening, or Country, or Hip-Hop; or is it yet being defined?
God created individuals with talent and great ability to express it, whether musically or otherwise. But Gospel Music lives within the children of God who are living the life. If I am a born again Spirit filled individual with the Fruit of the Spirit being manifested in my life, then I have something to say.
If I take my experiences, be it joy, pain or worship, and I express it musically, then it bypasses any cultural labeling. It is “Truth” stated by a Child of God. If I use the medium of R&B or Easy Listening, no person can judge my motives. If I write a song that has no words, who can say it’s not gospel music?
ElderB Productions is an outreach of the Gospel Warriors Ministries Inc. Elder Edmund Brown, in affiliation with other chosen producers, has launched an independent effort to impact the music scene with a broad array of inspirational and gospel music. Elder Brown is currently working with local artist in the Birmingham area as well as his own upcoming projects.
