The Things We Do With Words
We can do a lot with words. Just think about something you heard that really made you feel good. It may have been your parents telling you how wonderful you are, or it may have been a teacher or pastor telling you that you have great potential. Words can make you feel like you can overcome any obstacle. Words can also make you feel like a nobody. Have you ever been put down by your friends or unfairly criticized? Words can make us less confident and unwilling to put forth the effort that it takes to do our best. We do a lot with words, but I discovered a long time ago that words alone aren’t worth that much. Just because someone says that you are stupid doesn’t make it true. We shouldn’t let others speak for us. It is good to consider what others say, but much of it should just be forgotten. I’ve had people tell me that I was smart, but that didn’t put my head in the clouds. I’ve had people tell me I was a hypocrite and two-faced, but that didn’t shake my faith. I’ve listened to people talk about how great they were, but if you just watch them long enough, you’ll see that they aren’t nearly as great as they think they are. And if you think about it, that’s kind of sad. Jesus was accused of many things, but no one can say that He didn’t practice what He preached. He was a living example of everything He taught, and He is our example today. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest for your souls Matthew 11:29. We do a lot with words, but nothing we say can surpass our actions. In the long run, our actions are the real truth. That’s what hooking up to the "GSP" is all about. It’s about a lifestyle of action beyond words. It’s about a bold lifestyle of truth; something solid and real. That’s what God wants for all of us. Let’s do it.
