DJ Lace Mixtapes

Negative publicity continues to surround urban music and entertainment. Once a culture that only influenced African Americans, has now infiltrated mainstream society drawing major media attention to a national phenomenon. To counteract the negative influences of urban entertainment, DJ Lace (www.djlace2005.com) launched the Mix Club and Positive Mixtapes.com. The Mix Club & Positive Mixtapes.com features the hottest positive, life-changing urban and hip-hop music.

"The Music in the mix club is great!! No one in CT is throwing it down like this. I'm telling all my friends to join the DJ Lace mix club!!" Peter, East Hartford, CT

"I gotta give you some props. Your mix tapes are banging. I was a little skeptical at first, but you made a believer out of me. Your stuff is "tight." I like the way you handle your business." Michael, Miami Shores, FL

What is the mix tape? Simply stated the mix tape is the purest form of music on the street level. Nothing new to Hip-Hop, it started in the 70s before rap records even existed when classic DJs like Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash and Cool Herc recorded their live gigs and sold them. Mix tapes have traditionally encompassed everything from bootlegs of old school battles to club-like mixes of current hits. The most common mix tapes are compilations of new music, based on genre or artist. Many are hour-long compilations of not just recent rap smashes, but more importantly, unreleased underground hits and exclusive advance songs not due to be released for weeks, or even months. Mix tapes are often the first place that many rap fans can hear new artists or new music, especially now that the radio market has become gentrified and narrowed. The typical mix tape features dozens of current or upcoming hits and cameo freestyles, which help generate hype for the artists and their labels. Whether mixed live or with multi-track technology, DJ mix tapes are more than just compilations of music -- with the right creative touch, they're works of art. They allow the DJ to pick their own songs and create a musical message that lends to their unique personalities.
