God Makes People Different

If you were to walk through my house, you would likely see a variety of activity. In one bedroom, you may hear some music while down the hall you might hear a television set. In the basement there is the sound of a treadmill or washing machine and in another room you may hear the voice of someone talking on the phone.

Many homes are like mine. There are family members that enjoy television and others who like music. Some are quiet and neat while others are loud and junky.

Sometimes the differences in people can cause problems. The quiet one may fuss at the noisy one, or the neat one may complain about the sloppy one. It is so much better to respect and understand that "different" is God’s plan.

God creates many kinds of people: quiet, loud, shy, silly, brave, scary, and many more. God wants us to get along with family members and other people who are different from us. If all people were alike, we would all be doing the same thing. That would be pretty boring.

Even though we are all different, there is one thing that is the same. We are all God’s children through faith in Jesus Christ. Thank God for this kind of sameness. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accept one another as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God Romans 15: 5-7.
