A Covenant With God

But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark; you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you Genesis 6:18.

Have you ever heard of a covenant? It’s like two people making a deal with each other. You must first love and respect each other before you can make a covenant. When a man and a woman get married, they make a covenant to love and be true to each other for as long as they live.

God made a covenant with Noah. He did this in order to save the world. As part of the covenant, Noah had to build a boat. He had never built a boat before, and he did not really know how.

Noah did not understand why he needed to build a boat. The whole thing was God’s idea. So God told Noah exactly how to build it. And when the time came, God led all the animals into the boat. God even closed the door when everyone was in.

Then it started raining and raining and raining. Then Noah understood why they needed a boat. It was a good thing he had a covenant with God.

If you have a covenant with God, you can be sure that God will keep His part. You just have to obey what God says. When you obey God, it is called "faith". Faith helps us see and appreciate the good things God does for us.

Ask God to help you to understand more about covenants, especially the covenant between you and Him. God is always the strongest One, but He will help us with our part.
