Celebrate Life

I recently celebrated another birthday. I turned fifty on June 17. I’m not sure what I expected, but for the most part, I feel the same way I did when I was forty-nine. Only now I’m fifty.

As I looked at my face in the mirror (now at the ripe old age of fifty), I noticed a few wrinkles and some gray hair on my head. But as I looked closer, I saw that the wrinkles were actually laugh lines. I had experienced so many wonderful moments in my lifetime, until the laugh lines were now etched into my face.

As I looked at the grey hair on my head, I noticed that it reflected the light in such a way that it caused my face to shine. My black hair never did that. And as I look a little deeper inside, it seemed like my whole soul was laughing and rejoicing with me.

While it’s true that my body is getting older, it is also true that my spirit is being renewed each and every day. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day 2 Corinthians 4:16. When Jesus is the Lord of your life, He has a way of making every day special.

It really doesn’t matter if your body is eight, eighteen, thirty-eight or eighty; it is always the right time to celebrate new life in Christ, and to share that life with others. I have come to realize out of fifty years of living, that I am a man tremendously blessed of God, and to live the life God meant for me to live is the greatest contribution that I can give to make this world a better place.

Since my soul is getting younger and younger, it’s never too late to listen to the voice inside. It’s never says, "slow down old man before you stroke out." It tells you to live with boldness, love unconditionally, show compassion, give unselfishly, share, grow and never stop learning. Then help others to do the same.

I want to encourage you where you are right now, to begin today to celebrate life. Choose love like you have never chosen it before. Share joy like today is the only day of your life. Laugh, smile, and be good to everyone you meet. Take the people closest to you; your parents, spouse, kids and friends, hold them in your arms, look them in their eyes, and tell them, "I love you".

This wonderful life of yours is a gift from God, and you are never too old to open it up and live it.
